Alaric is a mountain engine and is the Culdee Fell Railway's seventh engine.

Alaric was built at the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works in Winterthur, Switzerland in 1923 to a "super-heat" design. He arrived on Sodor in May 1962.

Alaric was mentioned in a conversation between Culdee, Wilfred, and Ernest in Mountain Engines. According to them, Alaric is "nice and quiet".

In one of Culdee's flashbacks Alaric appears, but Culdee did not learn of Alaric's existence until he returned.

Alaric is based on the Snowdon Mountain Railway's Ralph, who was originally called "Aylwin" when built in 1923 and renamed "Ralph Sadler", before it was shortened to "Ralph".
